# Event Overview

Cannabis research laboratories come with a unique set of concerns and standards. As an increasing number of states legalizes the use of marijuana for recreational and medical purposes, the lab design community must be aware of what these facilities will need. Will you be repurposing an existing laboratory for cannabis research, or starting from scratch? What type of HVAC system will you need? Is your existing equipment sufficient or will it need to be modified or replaced? How can you find guidance on state and federal standards? What sort of security measures should you implement? What sort of design tools, such as BIM, can be used to create a cannabis research lab?
