Rotavaps are used extensively to extract substances of interest from solvent mixtures. Optimizing distillations and extractions to achieve high yield, high quality (purity), and high throughput requires a controlled, balanced process. Achieving the needed balance is most easily accomplished using vacuum control and an appropriately-sized vacuum pump.
