Once you’ve made the decision to outsource services in your lab, deciding which service provider to hire can be difficult because there are many options to consider, and each service provider may offer many different plans, from fixed to pay-as-you-go options.
Here, we provide two tools inspired by this article by Wayne Collins to help simplify the process—a checklist to help you evaluate the options, as well as an outline for the basic process of choosing a service provider. While these resources refer specifically to maintenance and service, they can be applied more generally to help make decisions on other laboratory services.
